Red Eye Brewing
Arguably, Wausau’s most popular restaurant, Red Eye is a micro-brewery, gastropub with a fun and funky atmosphere and approachable menu. They genuinely source many of the foods they serve from local farms and they offer some creative dishes. The most popular items on their menu are wood-fired pizza, burgers, the b.l.a.t., the lamb meatballs, the chicken wings, the citrus shrimp salad and the signature salad. But for vegans, they offer arguably our favorite dish, the Vegan Wrap.

Ciao
Ciao is one of Wausau’s best restaurants and nicest dining environments. They offer fabulous service, fun cocktails and an eclectic menu. Located just 5 1/2 blocks from the Stewart Inn, Ciao features contemporary Italian/New American cuisine with fresh pasta, awesome pork chops and Randy’s favorite dish, the “Shrimp Chartreuse” appetizer.

The Mint Cafe
Serving diners since 1888, The Mint Cafe is an institution in downtown Wausau. “The Mint” offers a fun, casual ambiance and classic diner menu with a few twists. Two of our favorite items are the chicken pot pie and the vanilla malt.

Van Acre
Van Acre is one of Wausau’s newest restaurants and a great place for lunch or dinner on the west side of town. Their signature dishes are the wood fired pork chops and the fig and speck flatbread. And for those who love cocktails, don’t miss the Vanhattan.

Osso Buco
Osso Buco is an elevated Italian restaurant with great pastas, delicious risotto, their signature osso buco and some exceptional desserts. They are one of the rising star restaurants in the fantastic Wausau dining scene and we have heard exceptional feedback from our guests.

Lemongrass
Featuring what may be the most trendy atmosphere in Wausau and amazing Thai, Asian cuisine, Lemongrass is one of the most successful restaurants in Wausau. They offer delicious food, generous portions, good service and guest friendly hours.

Pinewood Supper Club
Regarded as one of the top supper clubs in the state, Pinewood doesn’t disappoint. They offer a classic Northwoods ambiance, great supper club food, a top-notch Old Fashioned and a beautiful setting on Half Moon Lake. Our favorite dishes are the cracker-crusted walleye, the halibut oscar, the fried shrimp, the Friday night fish fry and the ice cream drinks.

Back When Cafe
Back When Cafe has been perennially voted the best restaurant in Wausau and the accolades reflect the consistent excellence they deliver. They serve an eclectic menu of items from brie stuffed salmon, to seared ahi tuna, to veal piccata, to baked gnocchi. They are renowned for their carrot cake which Randy agrees is both delicious and generous. Back When is three blocks from the Stewart Inn.

Tine & Cellar
Tine & Cellar is a fun and trendy restaurant that has 50 beers on tap and features a menu that appeals to most everyone. They offer some yummy soups and salads, a few sandwiches and a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. The one dish we always recommend is the whitefish dip. It is one of the best whitefish dip we have ever had.
